Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out the wiring from old timer controller to my new Hive Thermostat.

I've an ideal logic heat H18 boiler which has an old timer controller with 4 wires, diagram looks like this:

And in real life this looks like this:

The Hive Wiring diagram seems to be looking for 5 wires:

Old N and L will transfer directly to Hive N and L.
If I transfer
old 1:black -> Hives 1:Common
old 2:brown -> Hive's 3: Heating on

Is that sufficient? (Do I need Heating off?).

Cheers,

Olsiron

What you trying to connect up ? the single channel version ?

oh... good point. I probably didn't think that through.

So yep the boiler supplies heating and hot water. I guess I should be looking at dual channel?

So in that case, should it be:
old:1 -> Hive's 3: Hot Water on
old:2 -> Hive's 4: Heating on

Does 1:Hot Water off and 2:Heating off need to be linked up (to Neutral?)

Cheers,

Olsiron

Yes to live and neutral also 1 and 2 to hives 3 and 4 but I have no way of knowing which is which, you don't need any other connections.

The old controller had a diagram which indicated the correct wire for Hot Water and Heating. All wired up and working! Thanks for your help picasso!
