More shoddy work......

It's just one of those jobs you get every now and again. I just hope it's a while before I get another!
I have many pages of scribblings which will take a while to enter into the software I use for certificates and reports. Yawn.

I've been repairing a lot as I go along. No point in stuffing dangerous joints back in the ceiling with unconnected cpc's.

glad i'm not the only one to come across stuff like this.
The most common i think is def cutting the cpc out instead of just connecting it......!!!!!
but the no back box one is sooooo common as well!!!

One of the best ones was a 10kw shower on a 6mm t&e that had a 7kw hand wash tagged on it mid circuit!!! if that wasn't bad enough!!! because the cable wasn't long enough to re connect with this hand wash added on they used a 6 inch piece of 4mm between two jb's to extend it..
No wonder they used to smell burning in the mornings after everyone had been showering.
amazingly they said it had been like that for years.
anyway i just joined and thought i'd contribute and say hello and again i'm glad i am not the only one !!!!!!!!

cheers!!!
i'll have to get some photos of the nightmare that is a house basher lol lol to show you all.
last month i replaced a melted shower a perfect example of why you should always tighten your terminations!!

I like the way they went to the expense of having the bathroom done out, yet couldnt find funds to replace the archaic analogue boiler timer.

You can still buy these, and older people often prefer them.

I can hear that particular model of timer upstairs when I am in bed! its ok though, once it activates the boiler you can't hear it over the pipe noise, lol

We have one of these

Very very easy to operate I am sure oldies can even cope with them :D mind you that is 24 years old, so they probably don't make them any more now.

The latest ones I have seen are wireless for some odd reason?

oh if I carried a camera....

Had a house last year- new kitchen fed by 3rd fuse board, ****'s doing the job had pulled the main earth feeding FB2 from FB1 and stuck it in FB3, so now both FB2 & 3 had linked earth bars but no earth, at all. And for good measure, the kitchen had chrome sockets on stainless steel splashbacks & worktops...

Or the attic light wired in co-ax...
