Mortar cracking around padstone

Hi iv recently knocked my kitchen through to my dining room. I had a structural engineer in to do the calculations and provide steel size, padstone size etc.

It was done around 4 weeks ago but iv just noticed a hairline crack down the side and across the bottom, on one side. I just wondered if this has happened to anyone before and what ls the best way to deal with it.
