Haven't watched it for a while - got so p'd off with it a while back (probably longer than I think) when Carla's brother was holding people hostage and Kit rocked up on his own to deal with it, and I thought no, just no, what happens then is the guys in body armour and ballistic helmets, carrying HK MP5s or G36s arrive.

Yes, I know it's a soap, but it has to be grounded in some sort of reality.

Having thought we'll go back once this utter silliness has blown over, we never did.

Same sort of thing (although now I cannot remember what) drove us away from Emmy, and we ended up never bothering to go back.

I sometimes wonder if we did restart, how long it would take us to get back into the current storylines, or would we look at the characters thinking "WT* are they" because we completely missed the Great Meteorite Disaster of 2024.

Probably one of the most dangerous jobs, we deal with speeding cars, bad drivers, people who don't understand that we have a job to do and are willing to risk our lives so that they don't have to slow down or stop. A thankless job, yet if we don't do it those very same people are very quick to complain and moan. We have CCTV all over our vans now through the lack of respect and stupidness of the general public.

I think that ignoring the Lane Closed sign should be a mandatory ban and 10 points just like DUI.

And penalties for exceeding temporary speed limits 2x the ones for fixed limits.

Don't go back to corrie now it's terrible the worst it's ever been, we've always watched it so its sort of a habit but we are close now to calling it a day.

Still don't mind Emmerdale its still quite entertaining, maybe it's because it's only on for half hour compared to corries hour.

For some reason we could never get into Eastenders - watched it for a few years when it started, but after a while we just thought "nah". Can't put my finger on why.

Was never into any of the Aussie ones either.

The allowance is roughly £300 a month. That's too much, it should be £200 or less. We had a base model Skoda for £120 a month only a few years ago. It will be more now, but it only needs to be the price of a crappy car, or possibly even just a contribution towards that crappy car.

I'm disabled. I wear specs so I can see where I'm going, I couldn't find my way out of the house without them. I get precisely £0 per month to assist with this disability, I pay for my own eye tests and specs. People who are lucky enough to have perfect vision save this expense. What's the difference?

An electric Dacia spring is currently £172 a month with no upfront payment from carwow.

A petrol Hyundai i10 is £198.

I reckon £200 a month would be fair. If you're actually disabled, and aren't just suffering from feeling a bit sad or constipation.

OK, motability includes insurance etc. But the user could pay a share, other people pay all of the cost of their car and most have to put up with old bangers.

My whole point is not that I am against the benefit but if you can afford the extra dosh for a range rover or £115k bmw then you don not need any hand out in the first place, unless you need things fitted to enable you to drive.

What about people who receive disability benefits who don't take some of them as a Motability car because they have their own vehicle? Would you take their cash disability benefits away from them, and not pay them anything unless they were so poor that they couldn't even afford a crappy car?

Anything else you'd like to take away from people who can "afford" to go without it?

How about the state pension? Should that be denied to people who can live without it?

Private medical care can be bought. Should we take away access to the NHS for people who can buy it?

There are private contractors who will collect and dispose of rubbish. Should councils stop bin collections for residents with enough money to pay for them?

a crappy car
