If the first part is undeniable: "abandoning a profitable trading arrangement" what reason would you assume, if not "for dogmatic reasons"?

It's looking more and more as though David Cameron did have a plan in case he lost the referendum.
The plan was secret, Cameron would resign, Theresa May would stay back, and come to the fore for the replacement PM, she'd ensnare the prominent Brexiteers to trash the ecnomy, then when everyone realises what a dog's dinner the Brexit ideas was, there'll be a U turn, not an outright U turn, just the loss of face in parliament when the Brexit deal is put to the vote.

After all this is the U.K not North Korea , Saudi Arabia , Iran or turkey to name but a few countries were dissent can incur a prison sentence , torture or even death
