Please could anyone advise me? - The motorised valve on my central heating system will not shut down. It appears to be associated with the water system, the motor in the valve just keeps running and has done all through the night. I have shut the system down and reset it and it kicks in again and keeps running. The lever on the side of the valve is positioned down, if it is midway it keeps running, if I position it up it stops. I don't think it has been knocked? The only thing I have done recently is have the immersion heater on. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

It's broken. Buy a new motor.
The motor seems to be OK as the OP says it is running all the time. What he might need is a new actuator; that's the complete box on top of the valve.

Modern valves (last 20 years or so) have replaceable actuators, but if it's a very old one the complete valve will have to be replaced.

However, before rushing out and buying a new valve/actuator, tests should be carried out to make sure the problem is not somewhere else.

See Mid-position valve explanation and Diagnostics.
