mouldy ceiling

Corner of one of the bedrooms has got mould in the artex.... been up and sorted out the insulation and added a bit more... but what's my best bet for the bedroom ceiling?

1 can i just get it skimmed?
2 reboard the whole ceiling?

do i need to treat the mould? will it come through again?

If we reboard, do we simply put boards upto boards? or put battens in first?

nb there is artex, but is not pronounced... looks as though its been sanded almost !!

You have a few options depending on the condition of the existing ceiling.
So answers to questions
1) Likely not, it will need to be primed and all high points/peaks removed. Normally use bond-it as a prime coat. If skimming don't really want too much of an uneven surface.
2) Possible, sometimes the best solution but again peaks need to be removed and ceiling needs to be somewhere near even.

It is always best to treat the mould spores are they are a living organism and can very quickly start to cover large areas. Diluted bleach will sort that out.

If overboarding you can apply direct providing ceiling is even, if not battening out would need to be considered. The fun bit is locating the joists. If battening out fix the battens perpendicular to existing joist. when boarding stagger joints

There is also a product called X-tex that helps soften and remove artex but it's still laborious and messy.

50/50 bleach and water to wash it off and put a mask on. Long term exposure can lead to ABPA.

I suffer from ABPA but have not had a problem for years now but if I don't wear a mask it becomes a big problem. I use this http://www.greenham.com/c/pl/119987/SCOTT-Safety-Proflow-SC-Promask-Ready-Pak when working in old houses until the area has been cleared.

It breeds in dust so you don't need to see black mold, I would seal the bedroom off and wipe down the walls and ceiling, funature etc.
