Moving a Fuse panel!!

Hi guys, I am having a new kitchen fitted mid december and have arranged for a sparky to come and resite the fuse box.
I have just been told by a friend that they think we need to speak to our electricity supplier and get them to do the work.

Is this true?

Any help would be much appreciated.

if its just the fusebox that needs moving then the sparky should be able to do it

if the meter and service fuse also need moving thats another matter
