Moving an Electical Cut-out

Yes you're right, 90 degree rotation. And yes I was told it was very unusual to have it rotated.
I was told that the tar has melted as we had had a hot few months in the year. Its an old flat, prob 1950s. The surveyor has suggested it needs replacing, ...
I'm still not totally clear as to who has seen it - does that include someone from the 'DNO' (not the supplier)?
but it is butted up next to an intergrated fridge freezer, with the cable behind that in a fitted kitchen. So not an easy job, and expensive! :-( I am trying to just look at my options, and trying to establish, if doing nothing is actually an option also?
I'm in a block of flats so my decision could will others.
As westie (who is a 'DNO man') has suggested, that cutout probably needs replacing, anyway, and the incoming cable checked - and that would normally be done at no cost to you. If, as seems likely, someone has 'interferred with' the cutout in the past, I'm not sure what attitude they would take - but if you can convince them that any such interference predated your occupation, they might well still not charge you (westie?). Do you own or rent the flat? Is there a landlord or Management Company (or whatever) involved?

If 'a man from the DNO' has not already inspected it, I suggest that you contact the DNO (your supplier can tell you who they are) and tell them that you have a leaking, and seemingly strangely positioned, cutout which you are worried about, and they will send (probably very quickly) someone to inspect and advise (at no cost to you).

Kind Regards, John

I have had two people around from my Supplier - npower
And then the surveyor is from Skanska.

Apologies for a very ignorant question, but it is sounding like I have not had anyone from DNO (Distribution Network Operator? National Grid?) around and I need to?

Once again, thanks so much everyones help, I'm quite fretful about it and just want to get it sorted will the least amount of disruption to myself, the other flat owners, and my pocket!

Yes, it's sounding like that (yes, it's Distribution Network Operator). If you don't know who they are, and how to contact them, someone here may well be able to help you.

Kind Regards, John

actually...I had called UK Power Networks (they are a DNO?), who then sub-contracted it to Skanska, so I think I've contacted everyone I can?

I'm not sure. Hopefully one of the DNO folk here will be able to advise you. If not only because that cutout is 'making a mess', I would say that something ought to be done about it, and would have thought that a DNO would agree with that.

Kind Regards, John

Though making a mess it is not really an emergency job if there is no heat evident, given the description of the surround, it is one that will need some planning. It sounds as if a representative of UKPN in the form of a contractor has seen it so it will go on a planned job system.

If the OP hears nothing after a few weeks I would suggest he rings UKPN for an update

That number Bernard gave for UKNP, there evening staff are very helpful.
Give them a ring one evening, tell them you dont want no one out tonight but can they check your adress postcode to see if theres an outstanding issue, if there aint they will help arrange to get it sorted and give you a reference number, its not free call on a mobile and the voice recognitions crap so just say yes regardless and the system moves on, when they answer they ask your postode anyway
