Moving an electrical outlet a couple of inches?

A bit of a long shot i know but is it possible to move a flush fit twin wall socket down about 3 inches without having to chase a new mounting box? There are 2 sockets located above the kitchen cupboards supplying a fitted fridge and lighting but I want to fit some coving around the kitchen and the sockets are too close to the ceiling for the coving to fit in between. I can cut a slot in the coving above each outlet but that won't look ver clean! Are there any options other than to remove the sockets, take out the mounting boxes and chase further down to relocate?

Is the wall solid or stud work, are the back boxes metal or plastic dryliners ?

Do the cables run from below the back boxes or above ?

You can't offset a faceplate to a back box, so dropping the boxes, wire and switchplates will be required.

See my images and look at the dremel work one's. With some patience, and about 20 minutes work a resite isn't impossible, and will be easier if the cables route from floor upward.

If the wall is stud, 10 minutes work will get the back box further down and patching in a dry liner hole with a bit of plaster board won't take long.

Thanks for the advice. The wall is an exterior one so breeze block and in believe the sockets are fed from below so either way looks like I have a bit of work to do. I'll have to squeeze my sds drill above the cupboards tondo the box work but like you said it will probably take 20mins per box and then making good after with filler.

Surely the sockets shouldn't be this high to start with?
