if you have a game or similar that wants this file and you find it and install it in the system32 file, chances are it still wont work. you need to tell the pc "it is there"

you do this by going to

Start\run

then type

C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe Msstdfmt.dll

taken me best part of the day to find that out, so i hope it helps some one

I have a virus which i know is there, Software tells me it's there! buggrd if i can find and delete it though!

Where does your software say this virus is?

If it indicates that it is your System Volume Files, then it is only a System restore snapshot, so purge your system restore points.
