Everybody knows The Stranglers version of this song but the original by Dave Brubeck is a beautiful instrumental.

A bit of a puzzle as to who was first. This was recorded by Ray Davies, but never released. Peggy Lee released it, and the Applejacks, and The Pretenders version is the one I suppose most people recognise, but this is better. Not sure if it is just Ray, or other members of the Kinks.

Listen to the original again: if you take out the vocals and listen to the beat you can hear the genesis of Trance, right there.

Never realised this was a cover, but makes sense when you hear the original. The Stranglers were pretty decent live when I saw them.
