Hi all,

I have just fitted a new pair of sink taps in a downstairs toilet. The reason I replaced these was that we have been here 2 years and the hot tap never worked. I have replaced both taps, the cold water is great, but when I run the hot water tap and then close it off the whole tap and pipe makes a clanging sound. I think it might be air but I'm not sure. Any advice or tips.

regards Henny

MIght be air but doesn't sound like it. Sometimes loose pipes, sometimes the precise position of any stop cock etc you used to isolate the supply, sometimes it's just the tap, which is sometimes ameliorated by dismantling and greasing with silicone grease.

Could it be if a quarter-turn tap had replaced a conventional washer tap, then a loose pipe rattles because the water is shut off quicker?
