We have one external which is “fake” Elizabethan timber framed with exposed oak and white infill panels. These infill panels appear to be some sort of fibre board which has been rendered and then painted it – almost looks like compressed straw – but I assume it is something else. What is this board called? Is it still used? Is there a better current alternative for replacing a small area of approx 140cm x 20cm?

Grateful for any thoughts

My thanks for your thoughts .... I should of added that the infill panels probably date from the late 70's early 80's ... not very eco friendly then ...
I know I've seen this stuff before somewhere but just can't remember where ... although it looks like straw it's far too tough and water resistant for that

The timbers are very much older and I suspect they are subject to more movement than products like aqua panel will take, hence the use of this board
