Not people. That is done by very specialised riggers. I know basic rigging, making baskets and bridles etc and knowing what to look out for regarding whats right and whats not etc. I am used to putting alot of heavy PA and truss in the air, but not people! But this is all overseen by the house riggers of whatever venue you are in. In most big venues, you dont touch the rigging at all. You wheel in the flightcases that contain all sorts of rigging stuff and the house ground riggers build everything on ground and the ones in the roof pull up etc.
When getting loads of my girlfriend's stuff up into my domestic loft I got a sheet of hardboard cut to 2 x 2x8 strips and used cable ties to stitch them together.
I then set them shiny side up on the loft ladder (once I was up) and used a strop to pull the load up
Using the hardboard as a slide made the heck of a difference
The loft ladder was at a reasonable angle
