I had just finished putting together a flat-pack wardrobe for my mother, and was feeling rather pleased with myself ( done in less than 2 hours). Sat down for a cup of tea and said to visiting nephew (14, and not at all practical) I just had to adjust the mirrored door slightly. He asked how, and I told him about the screw on the hinge. Next thing I know, there's a sharp crack and nephew appears saying' I think there may be a problem'.
He thought he'd help his Grannie by adjusting the door, had given the screw about 4 turns, opened the door to check it, and when he shut it again, the hinge fixings on the carcass had come right out, leaving bigger holes than the originals, so the screws no longer hold.
I can't just move the hinges, as the door part is sunk into a pre-cut recess in the door, which I can't replicate.
Could I pack the original holes out with small pieces of wood (matchsticks?), re-fit the hinge screws and use something like Hard as Nails to hold it all together? The other 2 hinges are fine.
Advice needed on how to solve this please?
