Hi all,

Looking to swap out my existing Salus RT500RF with Nest 3rd Generation. Combi boiler so only heating to worry about. Nest thermostat will be talking to HeatLink wirelessly only.

Looking at the current wiring [see attached] I think it’s just a straight swap, but just wanted some reassurance (and to save the ££)

For me it’s simply:

Green/Yellow to Nest 3
Black to Nest 2
Brown to Nest L
Grey to Nest N

Thanks in advance
Jon

Looks good to me. I would put some brown sleeve over the green/ yellow wire to show that it's being used as a live. Doubt you will notice any money saving though, unless you plan to run the heating at a lower temperature than now. I've yet to find anyone who has installed a smart thermostat reporting that they have noticed tangible cost savings.

Ah yeah I actually just meant the cost saving not getting a sparky in to install it :)

Anyway, thanks @stem really appreciate the reply

Ah OK . That makes more sense, especially as yours is a straightforward swap.

My Salus has the same set up as this - however there is 230V coming to both this unit and to the boiler circuit board - (2 no 3C flex coming out of the spur) does the same still apply as both the heatlink and the boiler circuit board need power / remove links? there is also a link between the 230V and common in the boiler circuit board. see attached pictures

I'm not sure I understand your question, but if you are swapping a Salus RT500RF with Nest 3rd Generation as the OP did then the wires move over exactly the same. The boiler end stays as it is.

For future reference you should have started your own new post, not tagged your question on the end of someone else's. It's called Hi-jacking and is against the forum rules. See here.

Also new posts are flagged as such and readily seen by everyone. One buried at the end of a 5 year old thread not so much, which will be why no one's replied before.
