Nest Gen 3 Install advice

It depends what valve(s) you have. There are a number of different wiring plans: C, S, W, Y, U and possibly more.

Your boiler must have a pumped system.

So if its correctly fitted then you will have one or two motorised valves. These are either two port or three port.

Thats the number of pipes going into them.

Until we know that we cannot even start to help.

But to add to the complications not all systems are always wired correctly!

It can be a heating engineer's nightmare.

I had one with intermittent shorts every day or two to earth and from somewhere where the wiring was totally buried and hidden in the plaster!

After about three visits I had to give up because the wife was like a dragon and I found that too stressful. What did she do? She was a doctor specialising in dealing with pregnancies which would be the last place I would have expected anyone to work if they were not patient and not stress inducing.

Having lived for 13 years with a Chinese lady I was well accustomed to dealing with them!

In surface openable trunking would make that kind of fault easy to sort out !

Wire it neatly in surface Pyro and it would look awesome! Surface trunking is for amateurs!
