New Boiler needed for the sake of 2 rubber seals?!

So British Gas can't fix one of the most common boilers
you'll find. When all they have to do is replace a gas valve.

It's laughable.

Give BG the push.

I would have been around there new O rings or a bit of
gasket paste. Job done and away.

Its not how the Manufacturer states it should be done. So BG don't.

And how do you propose to test the gas valve outlet?

That’s part of the issue. Honeywell who make that part, say the maker of boiler should provide the seals. The boiler people have little or no information, so I end up getting nowhere with BG
If Honeywell sell this as part without the seals then surely it must be able to be installed?

It can be installed! Just not by BG!

Just get an independent instead !

As said mate, I'd tell BG to stick their service contract up their a.se & get someone in with common sense, that'll carry out the repair & apply some lateral thinking to the situation. The gas pressure is very low & to replace a perfectly good boiler for the sake of two 'o' rings is plainly daft!!

I have the correct valve on my BG van, with seals in the box. Thats how they come, the valve is taped to the box and the o-rings and replacement pilot nuts electrical cover are in a small plastic bag.

We do indeed stock the O-Rings and Valve.

Hi Tom

Glad to see and know we 'have a gud un' on this patch ;)

Thats good to know Tom!

Now how can the OP get BG to replace his?

I wonder if he even got a valve and looked in the box?

Sounds to me as if a complaint for extended delay and some refund of fees if proved!

Tom, would there be anyway in which you could get the part over to the engineer that went to the OP?

Have some better news, I found (via the energy saving trust) a plumber who lives 5 doors down from me.

In addition he did the corgi work like gas etc from the previous owner, and even serviced the boiler for the owner before him!

So he is coming around on Saturday to look at the problems, we are also going to discuss new boiler options as well.

Thanks for all the help, can't belive how many people chipped into this. I will use those gasket part numbers if we end up patching the old boiler up
