New brick wall meets old brick wall

On the first and last photos the bricklayer would have done a better job if he had cut back a bit more and taken out the closers, then used some snapped headers to run in the flank with a mock Flemish garden wall bond so it followed the bond of the existing.

Fortunately that was my neighbours extension but no doubt he was just happy that his rogue builder went against our national building control regime (whatever that is) and toothed it in

Not the best picture, but next door's extension was built without toothing the brickwork and since its construction (around 40 years ago) the extension has moved about 12mm away from the house. As they used brick ties as opposing to toothing into existing brickwork there was no damage to either new or old structure. You can just see the gap at the top of the extension on the picture I've attached.

I'm only a DIY'er but I can see the benefit of not toothing. Another extension completed in 2016 two doors down used wall starters rather than toothing.
