We've moved into a new build house and after only a few months the bathroom sink taps are loose. This aint a big problem but I thought at least the house-builders would have installed an isolation valve at each tap position. After talking to a friend, he thinks this is not in compliance with building regs for a new build house; is this right?
Also the copper pipes drop straight down underneath the floor. While they are loose, i've noticed they twist as there is no support.

Thats usually because they have used pushfit joints and probably plastic pipe under the floor.

Anything with a replaceable washer should have an iso valve.

basic water regulations!

if you decide to do the work yourself get a pack of "fix-a- tap" they are brilliant 2 washers (1 flat 1 shaped) a brass washer (and a plastic fitting only in the bath & kitchen sink packs) they come in a 2 pack

once you use these the taps should never come loose again

Nah... get the Builder back, youve paid for the work to comply to legislation.
If hes missed out on simple iso valves, then whats the rest of the Plumbing like?

The NHBC guarantee is for major issues like subsidence and there is a minimum cost of about £3000 for any claim.

You could try to get the builder to do it as it does not meet the Water Regulations and if they will not then you can threaten them with a small claim court procedure!
