I am about to purchase a new built-in single electric oven.

My current oven is on a 3 pin 13A plug.

The new ovens i have looked at in Argos, want an "electric cooker powerpoint".

I checked the book i got with my oven to check it should have been on a 3 pin plug, and it was.

Are there any single ovens about that will run off a plug.

The ones in Argos run between 0.75 - 0.99 kWh.

My poor calculations make 1.0 kWh to be just over 4 Amps?

Most single ovens will run off a plug. Anything under 3kw can be run on a plugtop - your calcs will show 3kw to be approx 13 amps. ;)

Argos have to say the electric cooker power point thing to cover their backs. They know they are selling to DIYers, and if they state that one appliance can be plugged in, certain less intelligent DIYers will automatically assume that all of their equivalent appliances can be plugged in.

Kilowatt hours (KwH) are a measure of energy, you want to know the power of the oven in kilowatts (Kw) or watts (w)

do they show a kwh figure just to confuse DIYers? Giveth with one hand, taketh away with the other.
