Hi can anyone suggest a good boiler which is lower end of the price bracket please and also how much I should be paying for said boiler.

It is for a 4 bedroom bungalow with 9 radiators.

Thanks

Are there any boilers not made in China? just badged somewhere else?

Allow 2 days labour inc powerflush.

That's 16 hours x £30 per hour = £480.

Plus price of boiler. Mid range £800.

All in price - about £1300.

Keep on getting quotes if they are talking silly money.

There's not a lot of work around so you are in the driving seat.

If it isn't a simple swap then ask them the price of the parts and the cost per hour for the extra labour.

Please define simple swap.

That true, play your cards right and your bound to get a quote for about £1300.
Oh for £1300 it will no doubt be a botch job off a cowboy.

If you ask him nicely Joe might chuck it in for you.

So we have a member of the public asking for a price guide.

Presumably they were expecting a response from a tradesman, rather than another member of the public, masquerading as a puppet.

I can help here; for £1300 you will get a very moody job, and it is no good complaining to Joe 90 afterwards. He only puts you onto his dad, anyway.

Joe90's price includes all the free fittings and sundries to complete the job and allows for the installer to make nil profit. He gives the impression of being an expert but knows SFA. Welcome back Joe....

You are getting nearly £500 for a two day job (at the most).

Plus materials.

How much do you WANT for a couple of days work?

You are only plumbers - not doctors or lawyers.

Why would you make nil profit? (no not that you pay for a flippin' van)

a good boiler for little money is a potterton gold 28he, less than £800 inc clock flue and vat, its british made, parts are cheaper than others and ready available, easy to service, i have fitted 100's and if trouble occurs( it does with all boilers) heateam are the back up engineers, and its guarrenteed for 2 years, it also had good write ups by which magazine,
Its not just 2 days work, joe 90 there's things you don't see, like going for the boiler and materials, visiting to quote, revisiting in case of things going wrong, ( the plumber is the first to get called, no matter what) , paper work before and after the job,
a fair installation price is £700 ish, depending on the gas pipe needed in my opinion,

We all have to quote and guarantee. Why do you think you are the only trade that does that?

i'm not saying we're the only ones, its time that has to be paid for, if the roof leaks, they call the plumber first, if the boiler goes out cos the leccy goes off, they call the plumber first,

And you never charge a call-out then?

Monday/ Tuesday you fit a combi for £700

Wed/Thur you do the same again. £700

Friday you quote/paperwork and go to the pub.

You are on £1400 per week and you are complaining?

No wonder there's a glut of new engineers from the UK and abroad.

Make the most of it - it won't last.

He's a jealous fcker is our joe, Don't tell him about your saturday rate Tom.
