I have recently had new floor boards fitted in my lounge. I understand that I must sand the floor prior to treatment. What I need is advice on what treatment to give the sanded floor. What I can tell you is that I don`t want a high gloss varnish finish but a more coloured waxy appearance. Can I buy a product that stains and waxes in one or must I stain first then apply a wax? As there will be considerable traffic on the floor, will the product that may get suggested be up for it?
Many thanks, Ashes

If you go for a coloured HardWaxOil you have three products in one:
sealer - the oil will penetrate the wood for long term protection
the colour - will colour the wood
and wax - the wear and tear layer - not a glossy look

What type of boards were they? Are they not bare wood, if so why so you need to sand them??
