Hello All,

I fitted a new pillar tap to my cold water supply on the kitchen sink.

Now when the tap is opened the water flows briefly before banging then stopping.

The pipework from the stopcock tees off to a washing machine valve then to the sink. I've removed the tap from the flexi and tried opening the stopcock and the same thing happens so I'm ruling out the tap being at fault. I've also removed the washing machine hose and opened the stop cock, this flows fine.

So it looks like a problem in the pipework between the W/M valve and the flexi but this is a run of approx 3ft with just one 90 degree bend. Any ideas what may be causing it?

Cheers

You may find the main stoptap coming into the house is put in back to front and is slamming on its seating. I know it sounds absurd but it is possible.

+1 for removing the flexi. Are the other cold taps affected ?

Thanks for the suggestions :)

The other cold taps are ok, they're off the CWST in the loft.
