just fitted new toilet and was suprised to find no fixing holes in the cistern, is this normal,its just that the cistern doesn't seem all that secure.

Could be a manufacturing fault, but I wouldn't trust it to hold.

Can you not drill 2 holes in it carefully and fix using a couple of tap washers and screws.

A lot of modern cisterns are made like that, I tend to put two large blobs(technical term) behind the cistern to stop movement, and yet still easy to remove, if needed.

Do you think the porcelain would crack if drilling was attempted with a tile drill done very carefully. I've never tried it but on paper it looks possible.
Anybody else think its a no-no.
