Hi guys electrician just going around property we are renovating and I wanted to know If I should also be running Tv aerial boxes etc. Any ideas or pointers will be most appreciated.

In particular:

Is there any good products to use (aerials, cables, boxes, amplifier)

Should we install boxes in every room even though bedrooms will most probably not have tv's (accpet 14 year old)

We have converted fireplace in 14 year olds room and will run power and tv boxes in there with a view to putting plasma above fireplace on chimney breast. Will this be an issue?

Thanks for your help as always.

Use one of the cable types approved by the; CAI Ct100 (beware of cheap copies of ct100), WF100, PF100, etc, it has a proper foil screen rather then a whsipy bit of copper braid that what jokingly gets called 'low loss coax' gets away with these days

Run three lengths to behind a double faceplate in the lounge, so you can fit something like this http://www.tracsat.co.uk/catalog/triplex-uhffmdab-returnfphone-p-312.html, also run a phone line into it

Run all the cables back to a position in the loft thats got a power socket nearby, for something like this: http://www.tracsat.co.uk/catalog/proception-plate-p-338.html

Also worth noting that if your electrician has asked you to recommend products for the job then you might be better off getting in a proper TV/aerial installer. Believe it or not, there are electricians out there that believe TV signals are just like power, and that it's acceptable to simply join up lengths of coax in a terminal strip!

I have seen it done with CCTV but i believe thats a different beast anyway - composite, rather than RF.

Always worth running around three feeds to the main tv in the living room to the loft space - one aerial, one to feed sky/cable and one to connect upto anything around the house via the digi RF out - I can watch sky anywhere in my house as I have a coax connected to RF out on the digi box. worth putting in a telephone socket if you thinking of having sky in the future as well while your at it

you should run 4 cables to the main tv point as sky+ needs two feeds

Thanks for all your help guys as usual the Tv aerial system was something which I totally forgot about. I would of preferred my current contractors to do the work other than specialist installer to save on costs as they are working on a daily rate.
