Hi, great looking forum I should imagine I'll be frequenting now I am well into the DIY (not through choice I might add  )
Having just moved into a property in a very rural location the missus is keen we get the house alarmed.

My back ground is I've spent 10 years as a vehicle security specialist installing alarms, trackers, etc and now a network engineer installing wireless networks in pubs so am quite capable of piecing bits of equipment together, running cables etc.

The missus wants to point me towards a wireless system for ease of installation but I've had experience with wireless systems in caravans/motorhomes. I feel if there's a wired alternative I'd sleep better at night. Am I right with this frame of mind as I have no experience with either system in the home market.

I have an amount of cabling to run tv coax & CAT5 wise around the house so feel I may as well go for a wired system as I think I've aquired a 100m roll of 6 core alarm cable along my travels plus looking around there seems to be a big saving in costs going wired.

Can someone recommend a DIY system for someone of my abbility to tackle.
Scouting the house out I'd be looking to have the front & rear doors on contatcs, four PIR's, keypad downstairs (possibly upstairs too or opt for keyfob control if poss) Don't see the huge need for a PA button but it's an option. And lastly would like a dialer to alert local family.

Thanks

Ben.

Hi and welcome.
Wired is always better if possible, although some good wireless kit is out there.
For you the best system would probably be the Texecom P;remier. This will do as you need and can use the Texecom dialler also. ( Easier to keep the kit all the same).
This can also be networked if you feel the need to tinker:D
