Nigel Farage admits his election promises were bogus

BS

What you mean to say the winter fuel allowance caper was not in the manefesto

Oh perhaps there were no plans at the time
Yeah right :ROFLMAO:

Vat on school fees they can thank brexit for that

Plus who was it aimed at labour supporters:ROFLMAO:

National insurance on bussiness
Oh that was not in there either than

Obviously there were no plans till after they were elected

I like a good yarn

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I see you haven't answered the question. You just want everything to work well and not have to pay for it.

Edit: and to clarify my view: I do think it about time we got rid of the WFA and better targetted to those that need it. Pensioners get far better protections that young people starting out. To means-test might have been a better approach though.

To be fair I always feel that's a cheap comment to make.

We're not politicians. We've not actively tried, and succeeded, to gain power. We don't profess to be experts in the fields of health, education, the economy etc.

Politicians are there to do best by the citizens, something they frequently fall far short in achieving.

Where to start? MMmmm, what about not giving billions (over years granted) to foreign countries, at least one of which now has a friggin' space programme!
It may be an easy comment, but its reality. We won't get Scandinavian levels of public services without paying for it. What the UK always seem to want is everything for nothing. I know quite well some local councillors (on both (major) sides of the political spectrum) and they work bloody hard, only to be faced with ignorant voters moaning about potholes and bin collections, not realising that the vast proportion of council taxes is spent on statutory services for children and old folk.

Genuinely: you need to think about the problem more carefully. What sort of society do you want?

I reckon most people wouldn't have an issue paying that bit more, if it could be guaranteed (as far as possible) the extra take wasn't largely allocated to additional layers of needless bureaucracy and benefits for folk that could/should be working.

You were doing ok until the last 8 words.

As much as it's a good headline and rallying call, it's not the real issue.

Nobody supports benefits for those that could and should be working, but there's a lot more to it than just shouting "scroungers". The actual "mis spend" of benefits isn't actually that high.

That doesn't mean it couldn't be better of course

I did fine with all my words thanks ;)

As for your second bib, are you sure? Nobody??

Not the point I was trying to make

You another party member ??

As to your edit I never offered a view about that one way or the other

Neither do I give a jot if you agreed with it or not

There are 14 councils in the UK where over 50% of the council tax take is spent on council pensions. Average country wide is about 24%.
