Onto the next project om this headache cottage...
This landing floor is a right mess as you can see.
Slopes down from right to left about 2" and dips along its length by about the same. Its a wonder the ceiling below even looks half-decent.
The "floorboards" go under that stud wall on the left, the next joist being in the adjacent room. Ideally I wanted to rip out the old floor but because of that awkward joist position I'd have nothing for the new to sit on.
So, hw would you sort this out? I am thinking
1. Screw all existing down so they dont move and squeak.
2. 3/4" ply shimmed where required (ie everywhere!) and screwed down.
It will create a new step up from the landing to this passageway, which I was hoping to avoid as house has old person about to move in.
Any ideas?
