Has anyone any experience of ''no dig'' drain repairs please. Such as costs , different methods, companies.
The problem is some roots growing through a small hole in a 4inch plastic pipe

Is it impossible to dig about a meter along your drain run - due to it`s situation :?: It`s got to be cheaper to dig and repair plastic than go for a Busting-mole and resin sock line ..Forgive my terminology  I never got into the hi-tech stuff. Your plastic drain should be surrounded with pea shingle so should uncover nicely- repair is easy too. If you had said it was old stoneware or pitch fibre I`d have said go for the No-Dig option .

"No dig" does not sound the economical solution and I'm not even sure the plastic pipe is suitable for such a repair. I have seen many repairs to clay and concrete drains using the systems Nige F is referring to. The usual procedure is CCTV it, Repair it, CCTV it afterwards to confirm the repair is OK and to validate the warranty. The minimum visit charges by these specialist companies are usually several hundred pounds a time and I am not sure if what you describe can be done in one visit. The ones I know about have tended to be multiple repairs requiring work over several days.

Thanks for both replies
Am currently trying to claim off the insurance, If that doesn't work will probably do as you suggest and have it dug up. I know exactly where it is thanks to a cctv scan Regards , Mike

Insurance should pay for a dig+ repair job. An assesor would be pleased for that to be done as it`s cheaper than a bust+ line.

Just to wind this up. I decided on a no dig solution as otherwise it would have ruined a new tarmac job and may have involved a pavement.
Dyno rod used a resin impregnated sleeve, cost app. £900 paid by insurance. Has a 15yr guarantee

Glad you have it sorted, I would agree you made the right choice as the tarmac and paving would have been a few bob to! Not to mention that tarmac cut through will always show the line of the cut and also give rise to some uneven settlement over time. I should have qualified my earlier statement about the economy of the works as I did not mention the nature of the ground finish.

Out of interest, did Dyno Rod do it all in one visit and leave any details with you such as the lenght lined etc?

Yes it was done in one visit. About 4 hours on site, plus about 4 hours travelling to and from Penzance. The liner was about 1metre long
