although its not good that we didnt manage to qualify it may be the wake up call that the FA needed and look for a decent manager who is committed to the team. how ever much people dont like him i think big sam would be the perfect guy or the job. not some thinning ginger who looks half asleep most of the time. and as of scotland not qualifying, im not sure anyone actually thought they would do, and im for one happy they didnt, exactly the same elation that they feel as we are out now!

with all the home nations out. :( maybe time to resurrect the home internatinols, give all the sad acts pundits somethink to put in there papers and talking heads on tv :(

Quote from BBC website

England's failure to reach a major tournament for the first time since the 1994 World Cup finals will cost the FA at least £5m in lost revenues.

Then goes on to say McLaren will expect £2milion in compensation

Is it just me or does this fail to add up to others?

Don't tar us all with the same brush mate. I for one was hoping that Becks would come on and score a couple of wonder goals from free kicks!

wot about a british isle cup to include all the major islands like jersey, man etc etc and invite north & irish republic for spice

Perhaps it's me being naiive / ignorant about football, but: is it not the players fault if they lose games and subsequently fail to qualify?

Beckham and his ilk are being paid £X,000's per game, presumably to do their best to win. I'm guessing that these players are at the top of their game so how is it that the coach is getting the flack for the players failure? Are any of the players getting the boot for their poor performance?

How much influence does a coach actually have over the out come of the game? Surely these players are experienced/well paid enough to figure out what's needed to win a game of football, in spite of any poor coaching issues?

Just my thoughts... :?

ginger one sacked beckham on his first day had to go cap in had to the golden one to try and save him but left it a bit late the most of the rest are 2nd rate anyway and should go with him or prove there worth at inter leavel

my apologies to youbut your in a very small percentage of sweaties who like to see england do well.

Why such a big deal? Its a game. Win some, loose some. Real men accept defeat and move on, not dissect every last detail of the defeat. Why must we have hours of news coverage on it? Why must millions of pounds change hands at every stage of a game? It shouldn't be about money. This is the main reason I dont follow football. Its not a game, more a financial transaction.

I dont think the England team should be called England. What right have most of the team got to that name? Beckham doesn't even live here anymore.

i hate it when people get loose and lose mixed up, one of my pet peeves. its not hard to get it right!!!!!! grrrrrrr it happens all too often!

Just a thought but couldn't it be just that we are not good enough.
The average English international can't hold a candle to the ability of most foreigners in controlling and holding the ball.
They are the most over-rated and over paid bunch in the history of football.
How many English players would you pick for a world eleven, Gerrard, Rooney, maybe on a good day.
Everybody agrees that the Premiership is the best league in the world, yes, but it's only because of all the foriegners who play in it, take them out and it would be like watching paint dry.
When I first started watching football the average first division player earned about twice the wage of the average worker.
Now some thick idiot, gets for kicking a ball about in 1 week, the amount which 4 guys on the average wage would have to work for 1 year.
Or in another context the same amount that a hospital consultant would get for working 1 year.
I feel sorry for all the genuine supporters who give their hard earned money to these t****rs.
It stinks from top to bottom as they all have their snouts in the trough, they do not give a flying puche so long as they get their ill gotten gains.
