Hello,

Our current alarm which I want to remove is powered via the kitchen sockets circuit just with a connector block and power cable branching off from said circuit.

Shouldn't the alarm be powered by a switched fused unit?

This was installed by a local alarm firm.
Basically looks like I will have to remove the alarm power cable from tbe circuit and recconect tbe existing circuit cable with a chockblock.

Depending on the circumstances, connecting the ring(?) back up with a choc block may be inappropriate.
If you would like some advice on the new connections, posting a picture in the electrics forum may help.

I’d also personally loop into the lighting circuit if you can with any new install rather than into a sockets ring main providing the unit isn’t going to draw too much
