No Hot Water (Baxi Bermuda)

Newbie here so be gentle!!

We've had no hot water today but had some bad winds the other night so i assumed the pilot light had gone out. However it hadn't. Upon trying to see if i could get anything going i managed to turn out the pilot light and now can't get it back on. Is this problem likey to be the thermocouple needs replacing or am i likely to have 2 different problems (pilot light and no hot water) ?

If it is you cannot change it without taking out the fire, for your own safety get in a Corgi guy to check it out and make the repair. Yes it is a simple job but involves disconnecting the gas which means it has to be tested before and after and unless your competant and have the right equipment. Get a CORGI please for your safety.

Baxi make a wide range of products. it's usual to have a user manual for the type of boiler installed left by the previous owner. post the model number.

if its a back boiler with a fire in-front the bottom panel is removable... on the back of this panel is lighting instructions.

thanks for the advice but i had no intention of trying to fix it myself (know nothing about plumbing) but was just curious as to what was likely to be wrong.

The pilot and thermo-couple is fine remember you turned it off, so it just need relighting.

The problem is that the pilot will not NOT re-light. I've tried quite a few times and it doesn't light. I can hear the gas going through when you press the button to light it but it does not light. I know how to re-light the pilot as i've done it many times before so it's not that i am doing something wrong.

Model is Baxi Bermuda 552. Will try that now.

Right i assume you meant the knob with 'Off, Low, 1,2,3,4,5, High' on it. In which case i had already done this but i've tried again and still no joy.

No not that knob but it should be turned to the off postion when lighting the pilot.

I mean the grey know which you push in and hold when attempting to light the pilot, turn it fully clockwise and leave it for about 3mins and it should click ( it resets the Valve)

It will only click if the pilot was lit, it disconects the little holding magnet inside the valve. It could be the ignition electrode has failed or the lead to the electrode. Other thing is the t/couple has burnt out, yes it was working before it went out but it happens a lot that the tip is cracked or chipped and will not relight. It may be possible to light the pilot with a taper but it is awkward.

It will only click if the pilot was lit,

if the pilot blows out or fails to light you have to re-set the valve. turning the grey know clockwise does that, and after 3mins ish it will click.

Managed to get the pilot re-lit and when i turned the water on the boiler started straight up. I now have hot water again!!!!!!!
