Replaced basin taps in bathroom. Drained hot water tank first.
Everything back together and now just getting cold water from hot tap.
Checked tank is ok and checked for airlock, still no hot water

Not sure what to do next, may be one of two valves in airing cupboard?

Mixer tap? If yes, did you check they were suitable for gravity fed systems?

how is your water heated,? if electric did you turn off the immersion heater before you started?

Take it that you haven't got hot water coming out of the cold water tap

Take it that you do actually have a tank of hot water and that you've checked this by opening another hot tap elsewhere.

gas fired boiler, turned off before starting work.

When i put the boiler on to boost hot water it doesnt fire up but working ok for heating rads.

keep thinking it may be the 22mm cylinder feed valve? but would i have any water at all coming through the hot water taps?

Did you close a gate valve on the hot supply, they're notorious for breaking if over tightened.

You can check if it is the valve by loosening the lower nut on the valve ease the pipe and fitting apart if it pi55es out it's most likely an air lock.
Clear the air lock with a hose across the kitchen taps provided there are no check valves at the taps.

Are you getting any water from either tap ?

if your getting cold water from the hot tap then there is nothing wrong with the tank, cylinder or pipes, you need to look at the controls for your hot water and why your boiler isint firing for hot water.

22mm Gate Valve from loft tank serving the base of the cylinder and 22mm pipe coming off top of cylinder to a tee. Only 15mm branch off tee has a gate valve.

Which do you think would be the problem valve?

correct cold water under decent pressure from all taps and showers (apart from power shower). Heating pipes to cylinder are hot.

turn heating on and boiler fires and rads heat up.
turn heating off and boost hot water, boiler doesnt fire.

Any ideas?
