Hi Chaps,

A friend had tried to fit a new light for his dining room, removed all of the ires from his celing rose (loop-in), bundled all the colours together and wired up his new lamp. However, the switched live was put in with the neutral and hence MCB kept blowing.

I rewired it for him correctly but now have no lights downstairs but the MCB hasnt tripped?

Is it possible that the MCB was damaged by his previous effort?

Thanks

Tom

Could be one of the wires has snapped at the rose with all the movement.

It would have to be the supply if no lights are working.

Have you a meter for testing properly for voltage?

It is possible but it also sounds like you have interupted the loop system.
Remember it is a radial circuit.
I take it the lights work up to the point that you rewired the light for him?

Thanks for the replies!

I do have a DVM at work but can't get it until Wednesday.

I'm not sure if the lights worked because after the MCB kept tripping he left it off. It was only when I rewired it, I flipped it back on an nothing happened.
