No lights down stairs..day 4

Hi, We bought a new three bulb pendant to replace a single bulb ceiling rose, and a new wall light for same room.
Using every combination ( there are five set of cables there for all five downstairs lights) we cannot get all five to work as they should.. Mostly the new light fitting for my dining room will not work on its own switch but the dimmer for my living room lights? Or some stay on regardless ....
All lights do work..
Please give any advice if you can thanx

every light downstairs now works... there is a but... the wall light is permantly on? what has gone wrong?
