Got some flooring to lay, using plywood. Do I need to install noggins between the joists (where I've marked orange on the photo) the joists are spaced 600mm and I'll be staggering the joints as I go.
it needs all edges to be supported, especially as in your case you appear to be using square-edged boards.
as well as your orange line (left to right) I see an unsupported edge (top to bottom of your pic. these can often be minimised by laying out the boards to match the joists, or trimming to fit
preferably put your whole boards, or largest pieces, in the middle of the room and on traffic paths, with few joints, so that joins are mostly near the edge of a room where they will not get walked on much.
Use screws to pull the boards town tight, especially over plumbing or cables that you may one day need to access.
a nail gun is faster if speed is more important than anything else.
the time spent refixing a squeaky board later will exceed the time saved by not bothering.
