Hi i had an extension completed almost a year ago .I now have a creaky floor i have read various posts about this as the floor is chipboard floor!.My question is there are no noggins bracing the joists! is this the norm or could this be the root of my problems?.Thanks :eek:

the problem with chipboard is there has to be absolutely no give whatsoever. this means an almost perfectly solid flat wooden sub-floor.

they don't exist. put up with the squeaks :rolleyes: .

Glueing and screwing does help massively mitigate the sqeak problem though.

Find out the area of the creaky noise then put in extra srews in the joist providing you know where the cable and pipe are!
