Hi, first post by a DIY numpty.

Bit of a strange one....

Whenever it rains moderately hard, especially at night, the pipes/radiators in our bedrooms start to make rattling/pinging noises. This appears to happen whether or not the central heating has been switched on, and turning the tap thing on the radiators to open/close them doesn't appear to make any difference.

The radiators have been bled, and the central heating was checked over and pronounced safe and functional a few months back.

We've lived in the house (actually a ground floor maisonette) for around 14 years and never had this problem before.

Any ideas as to what might be causing it, and how to fix it so that we can get some sleep?

thanks!

cant think of any reason why it would be the rads making the noise....look for something else when its raining

After sticking my ear next to the radiators and pipes it does seem to be coming from the pipes close to where they enter the radiators. Can't see anything else that it could be in the area, plus the noise is from walls on opposite sides of the house.

Could it be a Baxi bbu and the rain is hitting the GC terminal and transmitting down the liner?
