Hi,

I've just installed two handrails to help my mum with the stairs. They're from Wickes and are the ones with a profile similar to the top of a railway rail, if that makes any sense. The problem is that the bare timber is hard to get a grip on - it's quite slippery. I'm wondering what would be the best thing to paint it with. I'm thinking undercoat then oil-based gloss but is this the right thing? Is there such a thing as 'gecko's foot' paint?

Thanks.
