Not a good start....

......leaving for work this morning. I only went and scuffed one of the alloy wheels to my car on the curb outside the house
Only minor damage on the very edge of the rim adjacent to the tyre wall, but more than light scratches.
Can anybody give me any tips on how to get the scuff marks out?

I think you'll have to have it professionally repolished

There are many specialist firms who repair damaged alloys.

Either have a look in auto trader or on google. many of the smart repairers such as dentmasters also do this work.

If the repair is too expensive (people who have their alloys repaired/refurbished are usually people with very expensive aftermarket ones), just make sure you keep the wheels clean paying special attention to the scraped area: then it is invisible to anyone but yourself. Dirt in the scratches draws attention to them.
