Because the power smoke alarms ive had always have a light on them to show they have power, and when the battery starts to get flat they start to bleep.
and my assumption and idea was that its always best to isolate anything like that, smoke alarms, fire alarm etc security and safety systems from other circuits that are likely to trip.. so there is a higher chance of them staying active.
