I'll used either oak, karri or azobe. the girlfriend thinks im mad but i don't lol. is this a good idea? and how could i join them as i don't want to use metal brackets?? btw this is my first thing i have made since school so a total novice.

You will need to store in the home for a couple of months in the warm to allow them to dry or the construction will break up under the strain of drying.
You can screw together http://www.kilgraney.com/Timberlok railway sleeper & decking fasteners.htm
plugging the hole after for hidden fixing. Will need planing and sanding then you can then oil and wax for a nice shine. My oak sleeper coffee table below.

Cheers foxhole love your table. how have you secured your table? i was gonna buy a router and sink the leg a bit. i was gonna have the legs inside the frame (fence post ish size) so i could screw from the inside would that be strong enough for the heavy frame?

i just think it's quite funny that you come on to a DIY site to ask how to make a bed... !! i do one every day ;) ;)

It's too heavy to move as one piece there is velcro glued and stapled over legs, thats all thats needed to keep it together along with the weight.
