Observatory Dome Project

I am currently building my own observatory for my telescopes and just about to start on building the framework for the dome. I had planned like many other amateur builders in cladding with 3mm hardboard and then fibreglassing. I have never worked with fibreglass before and was wondering if there is a resin or something else that can be used with good strenth and durability. If I go the fibreglass route is using matting better than the 3mm sheets avaiable and just sealing the seams.

your advice will be greatly appreciated

Why a dome.

The answer is simple really. The new property we live in has a small back garden and I do not have the opportunity to put a roll off roof.
