Usually when I start van up it says oil OK hut now oil -- is this just an electrical poor connection as my floor under seats is wet and nothing to worry about? Dipstick check seems ok

Also worth topping header tank up one inch with antifreeze? I've no idea if any is in there

Double check the oil level with the dipstick......only then can you trust - or mistrust - the oil level sensor.
Top up the coolant header tank with antifreeze - use concentrated stuff if you're not sure how strong it is.
Your subject title is somewhat misleading!
John :)

The 2 dashes on the display indicate it has oil, above the minimum but not uptoi maximum.

Wipe and check the actual dipstick on level ground.

If not sure how much if any antifreeze is in, then empty the coolant and refill with correct amount. And then check level every day for a week or so

Lol! It is. I was going to say head gasket but, sounds like not as bad an issue after all.

Anyone else find those modern dipsitcks (orange plastic end) more difficult to read than the old simple metal ones.

They seem to collect oil really easily when pulling them out, even after wiping, so I can never see a clear defined level line.

For those of us of a certain age.......
Remember the PSA TU engine, fitted to the Saxo, ZX or whatever - the plastic end of the dipstick used to break off after a few years which gave us quite a problem!

Normally ok though not the two dashes

The 2 dashes signify (if the sensor is accurate) the level of the oil.

1 dash is minimum or thereabouts. Oil ok is full. In between is signified by the number of dashes.

But it's a guide, always check the dipstick
