My firebird popular 90 oil boiler once reached temp cuts out for 7 mins fires for 3 and so on cycles like this i just got it serviced the other day does this sound like its running right (efficiently), it is about 18 years old and has never giving me trouble.

if your boiler keeps cycling like this its posible that your pump might have failed, which means that the water the boiler is heating up is only working on gravity circulation.

At this time of year, with these temperatures, it doesn't sound too far away. What did it used to do? I bet you probably never noticed

Central heating pump is working, oilhead your right i never checked how she was cycling before only checked today. But then again it is freezing out so she sounds to be cycling about right so.
