Hi,

Need to repair a driveway (ie not going to dig everything out and start again). Hopefully base is not too bad, slabs were fine for years until a skip disturbed a few. Slabs are the square shed/B+Q type about 3cm thick, 40cm square.

Am intending to lift, fill/screed with sharp sand and whacker plate level before relaying. Can I then whacker them again for a final level/compaction or will that scratch and/or crack them? The hire people have a rubber base (£25) you can put on the whacker (also £25) if that might help? If not ok to whacker, I guess rubber maul? Jumping up and down?!

Would appreciate any input.

ive never whackered slabs and wouldnt for fear of cracking them.lay them on sand and cement ,as long as the hardcore is tight you shouldnt have any problems
