Hi... just a quickie

After a complete domestic re-wire with all new chases, socket & switch locations etc. Is it ok to leave the old cables in place? or do they all have to be ripped out?

Can't find anything in the regs about this.

Cheers!

Okie dokie, cheers.

Was planning to rip out everything visible, but didn't fancy hacking walls to bits to pull out dead cables that are nowhere near new ones.

Is there anything in the regs or OSG about it?

We remove as much as possible, but if it involges chopping out / spoiling decorations we just cut off as much as possible.

The more old stuff you remove, the more money the scrap man gives you

£800/tonne if you don't strip it

Takes all our lads about 6 months

We divvy it up between us and go out on the lash

(We burn all ours below 16.0mm² and strip the rest) 8)

I stripped 150kg of clean copper from a single busbar chamber once :D

Every now and then we get an old copper tank left up in a loft so we weight it in and split it, the last one was a few months ago along with some piping and we got £80 :P
