I had my old boiler removed a few weeks ago and the flue has obviously been removed however the external grill is still in place (its only the size of the bottom of a lemonade bottle. I need to fill the hole up, but not sure of the best way.

take out the damaged bricks around the hole and replace them, fill the inside with mortar and skim over.

It was a standard horizontal flue with a small flue head on it, which has remained externally as I have a conservatory aross the back of the house so it'd be difficult to remove. I then have a hole the diameter of the flue all the way through. I was just going to use expandable foam or alternavtively block up the grill end internally with a piece of wood cut to fit and then put in expandable foam. Any help reatly appreciated
